  • Pascal Wehrlein wins for Mahindra Racing in Round 4 of the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge
  • Second consecutive win and now tops the leaderboard
  • Lucas Muller wins the Challenge Grid race and moves up to P2 in the Series
The halfway point of the eight weekend ABB Formula E Race At Home Challenge saw Mahindra Racing’s Pascal Wehrlein and Jerome D’Ambrosio head to the virtual Hong Kong E-Prix circuit for Round 4 of the sim series.

After qualifying in P2, Pascal Wehrlein was caught up in a first lap incident which saw him drop down to fourth place. Undeterred, Mahindra’s #94 driver moved up through the field, overtaking James Calado on lap four and then taking advantage of Edoardo Mortara’s mistake on the following lap to take the lead.  He then opened up a commanding gap and cruised to a consecutive win, and to the top of the leaderboard.

Jerome qualified in 8th position and ran in a points-scoring position for a good portion of the race but was eliminated at the end of lap 10 due to the ‘Race Royale’ format, finishing 17th.

Earlier, Mahindra Racing’s Challenge Grid driver, Lucas Muller took a sensational victory in the closing stages of the race, moving him up to P2 in the Series; “I’m a bit speechless to be honest. I really wasn’t expecting to be fighting for a win but I think Joshua made a mistake in the chicane and then after that I was closing in and started to think that this could actually happen!”

PASCAL WEHRLEIN, #94: “Today was a bit special with the qualifying and the wet conditions, so it was unexpected for everyone. The race was chaotic at the beginning and my car ended up being slightly damaged – the steering was to the left - but I was able to be fast in these conditions and brought it home.”

DILBAGH GILL, CEO AND TEAM PRINCIPAL: “It’s been another fantastic day for Mahindra Racing!  It was a chaotic start to the race, but Pascal’s pace was lightning and he took a commanding win - his second of the series which puts him top of the leaderboard with four more races to go.  And with our sim racer Lucas Muller securing victory in the earlier Challenge Grid and moving up to second in the series, we couldn't have asked for more!”

/ Watch the passioneering rap anthem with Brodha V on Mahindra Racing’s YouTube channel

Mahindra Racing heads to Santiago, Chile, for round three of the 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E Championship which takes place on Saturday 18 January.

Fresh from his double Super Pole appearance last month, Belgian Jérôme D’Ambrosio will be driving his #64 M6Electro which is known as ‘The Godfather’ this season, with his eyes on securing a hat-trick of Super Poles in his season six campaign. Pascal Wehrlein, who finished on the podium in second position at his first Santiago E-Prix last season, will once again be at the wheel of the #94 ‘Electro McQueen’.

One year after the squad recorded ‘Formula E Goes Bollywood’ in Santiago – the third movie in the ‘Bollywood’ franchise, which won the team the 2018/19 Formula E Social Media Award – Mahindra Racing returns with a new musical movement to sweep the Formula E paddock. The team has joined forces with prominent Indian rap artist Brodha V to produce a passioneering rap anthem, which focuses on the team’s journey in Formula E and highlights the DNA of the all-electric racing series. The Santiago E-Prix takes place at Parque O’Higgins on Saturday 18 January 2020 at 16.04hrs local time.

“We had a strong performance in qualifying in Diriyah and we’ll be looking to build on this momentum in Chile, while at the same time working hard to ensure a strong race performance as well. We’ve seen in previous years the impact high track temperatures can have on the race so the challenge this weekend will be managing both tyre and battery temperatures. We saw the new season six energy regulations come into play at the opening race and, if we have a safety car or full course yellow period this round, then the race could be another interesting one.” DILBAGH GILL

At the dawn of Formula E’s opening weekend of competition, Venturi Racing announced the continuation of its relationship with Norman Nato and Arthur Leclerc for Season 6.

The team’s support for Norman and Arthur is an endorsement of the continued progression the French-Monegasque pairing have made since joining the team, with the duo playing an important role in the preparations for the upcoming Formula E campaign.

Born to Drive
Becoming the ‘Minime’ French Karting Champion in 2004 before winning the French Championship in the ‘Cadet’ class one year later, Norman Nato was born to drive and has gone from strength to strength in his motor racing career.

Entering professional motorsport in 2006, Norman holds an impressive record in single-seaters, finishing as runner-up in F4 Eurocup 1.6 [two wins, eight podiums] and Formula Renault 2.0 Alps [four wins, eight podiums].

Norman entered the GP2 Series [now Formula 2] in 2015 where he competed for three seasons, notching three victories and eight further podiums to finish in fifth in the 2016 running of the championship.

Joining Venturi Racing ahead of Season 5 as the Reserve Driver of Monaco’s only racing team, Norman made his Formula E debut in the championship’s official rookie test in Marrakesh, where he recorded the 10th-fastest time. Norman will remain in this role for Season 6.

Home-Grown Talent
A home-grown talent, born and raised in the Principality of Monaco, Arthur Leclerc is a natural fit with the Monegasque identity and DNA of Venturi Racing.

An exciting young prospect on the motor racing ladder, Arthur stepped up to single-seater racing in 2018 following successes in karting by competing in the French Formula 4 Championship.

Recording two wins and one pole position to finish fifth overall in his debut season, Arthur advanced his experience in 2019 by mounting a championship challenge in ADAC F4, taking third in the Drivers’ Championship at the close of the season, securing one victory and a further seven podiums.

A familiar face at Venturi having completed simulator work with the team since Season 4, Arthur proved his competence in Formula E’s Gen2 machinery in its Season 5 official rookie test in Marrakesh. As Test Driver, Arthur will advance his already extensive experience in all-electric racing machinery for Season 6.

In Their Words
Susie Wolff, Team Principal, Venturi Racing: “It was a straightforward decision to retain Norman and Arthur as our Reserve and Test drivers for the coming season. Both provided valuable feedback during the Marrakesh test and also in the simulator, which has played an important role in our Season 6 preparations. Norman continues to prove his ability with some strong performances in WEC, while Arthur’s maiden F4 campaign yielded some impressive results. Norman and Arthur have become an important part of the team and this extension of our working relationship is a well-deserved recognition of their ongoing contribution.”

Norman Nato, Reserve Driver, Venturi Racing: “I am very happy to continue with the team. We had a good first year together. We have done well, we have improved, but there are still areas where we need to improve. We will benefit together from this first year of experience and build on our solid foundations. It will be a very interesting year, whether in the simulator or on the track during the tests in Marrakesh.”

Arthur Leclerc, Test Driver, Venturi Racing: "I am very happy to continue my journey with Venturi. This role as a development driver is an evolution from last season, which gives me particular pleasure. My first year with them was very rewarding. Every minute spent in the simulator has been valuable in terms of learning. As for the work on the track, it was also very interesting. In both cases, I discovered the many specificities of the discipline, which was very instructive. I will do my best to help the team to make our Monegasque anthem resound on the Formula E podiums.”

25 May 2019, Tempelhof Airport, Berlin – Despite demonstrating clear speed during the two Friday practice sessions, which saw Edoardo MORTARA second fastest for both sessions, the VENTURI Formula E Team was unable to capitalise on the momentum on race day.
Both drivers struggled during Qualifying with MASSA making contact with the wall twice and MORTARA struggling to get the necessary heat into his tyres on the ten-turn 2.375km track. The team, currently lying in seventh in the Championship, leaves Berlin determined to learn from the race in the German capital and return stronger to contest round 11 of the 2018–2019 Formula E Championship in Bern on 22 June.

IN THEIR WORDS

"It's been a difficult weekend. We started very well yesterday with the practice sessions, the car felt good and we were very competitive. But I think we made the wrong choices today. In Qualifying, we had the pace - at least on the push laps - to be competitive. But in the race the car didn't feel that great. We clearly have some things to work on from this weekend, let’s see where we are when we get to Bern.”
Edoardo MORTARA, VENTURI Formula E Team driver

"A very disappointing race. A disappointing Qualifying too - touching the wall and starting P19 - not ideal. The start of the race was okay. We gained a few positions and we were in the fight. The pace was reasonably good. Then, I got to the high-speed corner, got on the marbles a little bit and hit the wall. After that, the balance of the car completely changed - maybe something got bent at the rear, I don't know. I thought I had a puncture, as the car was almost undriveable. After that, any possibility I had to gain positions was gone. Hitting the wall was really a disaster. I'm so disappointed, because the pace of the car was okay in practice but after these mistakes that doesn't count for anything. So, not our day. We need to concentrate now on the next one.”
Felipe MASSA, VENTURI Formula E Team driver

“As a team we simply didn't do a good enough job today, not when it counted. Now we need to go away, reconsolidate, analyse and understand where we went wrong to make sure we come back stronger in Bern."
Susie WOLFF, VENTURI Formula E Team Principal
Recently, the VENTURI Formula E Team signed a multi-year partnership with the world leader in protection data, applications and sistems, Acronis, partner that provides cyber protection solutions including cutting-edge hybrid cloud architecturedisaster recoveryfile sync and shareblockchain notarization and e-signature services, and anti-malware protection – all of which can be managed from a single, intuitive console, complying with the five vectors of cyber protection: solving safety, accessibility, privacy, authenticity, and security (SAPAS).

11 May 2019, Monaco – Felipe MASSA brought a return to form for the VENTURI Formula E Team in front of a home crowd at the Monaco E-Prix on Saturday 11th May adding to the team’s silverware the 2018/19 Formula E Championship with a third place on the podium.

After a strong qualifying, MASSA started the ninth race of the season at the iconic Monaco track in fourth position, his third place finish brings another 15 points to the team championship standings.

VENTURI President, Monaco-born Gildo PASTOR, who joined the team for the home race staged just ten minutes walk from the team’s HQ, led the charge in congratulating Felipe on his maiden Formula E podium on home turf.

MASSA’S Swiss-Italian team mate, Edoardo MORTARA, had a less successful day on the 1.765 km circuit. A frustrating qualifying performance left him at the back of the grid for the start of the race and despite finding good pace from the car, an overtaking incident with MAHINDRA Racing’s Jérôme D’AMBROSIO, damaged his front suspension and  resulted in the untimely end to his race on lap 30.

Without doubt MASSA’S performance at this very special home race for the VENTURI Formula E Team has had a significant impact on the morale of the Monegasque team.

“It wasn’t a great day for me personally but it was a really good day for the team, so in the end it's positive. I didn't have the pace in Qualifying - I just couldn't get the grip that I wanted and I had some problems on the brakes. When you start at the back here it's difficult to recover although I had some good overtakes early on, it wasn’t enough. But the pace is there in the car, so let's see in the next races if we can qualify further in front and score some big points.”
Edoardo MORTARA, VENTURI Formula E Team driver

“What a great feeling! Qualifying was fantastic and it was an amazing race too - nice and clean. I’ve had good qualifying results before but something always happened during the race. So far, I’ve never had a completely clean race that allowed me to get the very best from the car. Today we had no mistakes, nothing like someone pushing me out and breaking the car like I had in Hong Kong. It's the best place to do it here in Monaco - the home E-Prix for the team and for me. It was so special being on the podium and seeing my son screaming for me - that's a great feeling. Looking at these kind of things just makes you feel so proud. I'm doing what I love to do and having the results too is always the best achievement. Our Monegasque President Gildo was understandably emotional after the race, it’s a big day for him too and I’m very happy that we could share it together. I want to say a huge thank you to the fans as well, the atmosphere was incredible. I hope this is a sign of more good things to come for me.”
Felipe MASSA, VENTURI Formula E Team driver

“We're incredibly happy with Felipe’s result. Our Headquarters is just over the rock, so to be on the podium at our home race in Monaco, with our President, Gildo Pastor here and the incredible local support, makes a very special day for us. Definitely one not to forget. Felipe did a fantastic job, the team have worked really hard and I’m very proud of them. Felipe’s shown so much promise over the last races but hasn't quite made it to that podium finish, so to do it here in Monaco - his first podium in Formula E - is fantastic and very well-deserved. It's just what we needed. We had so much momentum in the middle of the season so it's great to be back up there. Now we really want to finish the European season with a strong few races in the lead up to the season finale in New York.”

6 March 2019, Monaco – Following Edoardo MORTARA’s third place podium finish in Mexico City, VENTURI Formula E Team heads to the fifth round of the 2018-2019 Formula E Championship in Hong Kong this week in strong spirits. With a break from the usual Saturday race format, this weekend sees the race action take place on Sunday 10th March.

SKYSCRAPERS AND SEASCAPES

The 1.860 km street circuit nestles between the stunning Victoria Bay and the impressive skyscraper-studded Hong Kong skyline. Formula E enjoys huge popularity in this territory, not only with fans but also with the motorsport fraternity who really look forward to this leg of the championship.

Featuring a more traditional track layout, the Hong Kong circuit presents a different proposition from the last race in Mexico City. With a noticeably short and winding track configuration, a strong qualifying performance will be more crucial than ever to a successful race in Hong Kong. Added to these challenges, the initial weather forecasts indicate that there is a chance of rain on Sunday 10 March which will no doubt add to the on-track action.

GOOD VIBRATIONS

Edoardo MORTARA makes his return to Hong Kong having just clocked up his second  podium finish in Formula E (third place in Mexico). His first podium and second place in a race came in Hong Kong in December 2017 - so the Swiss-Italian driver is more motivated than ever to put in a solid performance.

Felipe MASSA, who qualified in third place on the grid in Mexico City, is looking forward to his premiere lap of the Hong Kong track. MASSA, like his teammate, has been spending plenty of time between the races in the simulator in order to familiarise himself with the track and to work on energy management strategies.

QUOTES

“I’m going into this race calmly and very focused on my preparations. We’re coming off the back of two good results, and we’re heading in the right direction. The team is ultra-determined. Now we just have to hope everything goes well over the weekend. I’m looking forward to getting back out on the track.”
Edoardo MORTARA, VENTURI Formula E Team driver

“This will be my first time visiting Hong Kong. I can’t wait to get there, especially as I know I have a lot of fans there. I’ve familiarised myself with the track in the simulator, in order to be as ready as possible on race day. We’ve come a long way since Santiago and the team dynamic is very good - this weekend we’ll continue to push and we hope to have the best race possible.”
Felipe MASSA, VENTURI Formula E Team driver

“Round four in Mexico was a highlight for VENTURI and a very proud moment for me as Team Principal, the team worked enormously hard for that result. Following a successful in-season test day in Mexico we returned to Monaco with our focus fixed firmly on preparing for Hong Kong and the drivers and team have been hard at work maintaining the momentum from Mexico. This weekend, I want to see us continue to improve and showcase the capabilities of both our drivers and the reliability of the car.”
Susie WOLFF, VENTURI Formula E Team Principal

Free practice, qualifying and the race itself will take place over the course of a single day, Sunday 10 March 2019. To keep up with all the action, follow VENTURI Formula E Team on Twitter: @VenturiFE.

The second leg of the FIA WEC’s 2018 visit to the Far East sees a return for the seventh consecutive season to Shanghai International Circuit in China, on the outskirts of the country's biggest city and its global financial hub.
And what a visit it promises to be!
The 2018 edition of the 6 Hours of Shanghai on Sunday, 18th November will boast its biggest ever entry (list HERE). No fewer than 35 cars will take the start of the fifth round of the WEC Super Season, including the welcome addition of Corvette Racing who join the LMGTE Pro class for the second time this year. Many eyes, however, will be on the Chinese-entered Jackie Chan DC Racing entries among which is Sino-Dutch driver Ho-Pin Tung.

Rebellion Racing has been confirmed as the final winner of the 6 Hours of Silverstone, the third round of the WEC Super Season.
The No.3 Rebellion R13 Gibson, driven by Mathias Beche, Thomas Laurent and Gustavo Menezes, becomes the first privateer entry to win an FIA World Endurance Championship race overall and the first non-hybrid to claim overall victory since Spa 2012.
The final results and championship classifications show a 1-2 for Rebellion Racing, with SMP Racing claiming third place.

The third round of the 2018-19 FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season is almost upon us with Silverstone, the Home of British Motor Racing, this year featuring in a summer slot.
Jenson Button in his first home race since 2016, close competition, more overtakes than you can count, and tight, on-track battles among the 34 competitors are expected in the 6 Hours of Silverstone (17-19 August).
The outright winners of the race will lift the coveted Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy, the oldest trophy in motorsport (which has only been won once by a British driver, Anthony Davidson, since the WEC launched in 2012).
All this, plus a packed timetable of entertainment on and off track, has been programmed for the enthusiastic and knowledgeable crowds which traditionally enjoy the world championship’s only visit to Great Britain.
Fans will be able to see not only the WEC, but also the fourth round of the ever-popular European Le Mans Series and three races from the hotbed of junior racing talent, the FIA F3 Championship. Don’t miss a minute of the action!

A racing return home for Jenson Button

Four of the drivers in LMP1 are British, but there is only F1 World Champion carrying the famous Union flag: Jenson Button from SMP Racing.
Thousands of fans are expected to be at Silverstone to support him. The Frome, Somerset-born driver will be starting his second WEC race and, like all the drivers in the LMP1 privateer teams, Button will no doubt looking forward to the increased performance levels thanks to the recent Equivalence of Technology adjustments. SMP Racing’s BR Engineering BR1-AERs had a tough 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Russian team will be eager to chalk up its first podium of the season – of note is that the No.17 entry will feature just a two-driver line up of Sarrazin and Orudzhev.
The WEC is of course graced by two F1 World Champions this year and Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Fernando Alonso, together with Sébastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima, will be planning to build on the dominant two wins from two races achieved so far this season. The immediate fight will be taken to them by the sister Toyota TS050 HYRID, with Britain’s Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José Maria Lopez providing stern competition.

Hot competition guaranteed in LMGTE

Get ready for some of the hottest competition in the world of endurance racing! While Porsche currently has a strong lead in the GT Manufacturers’ World Championship, there’s a long way to go in the Super Season and historically some circuits suit some chassis better than others. Every manufacturer has all to play for.
Porsche’s 911 RSR is on a roll at the moment and the two Porsche GT Team entries – reverting to their more traditional liveries – will both be aiming for victory. Former GT champions Gianmaria Bruni and Richard Lietz (No. 91) are hungry for a win, while Kevin Estre and Michael Christensen (No.92) will want to keep their Le Mans success going.
Aston Martin Racing’s new Vantage starts the 6 Hours of Silverstone on home ground with a two-driver line up in each car, similar to all its rivals. Marco Sørensen and Nicki Thiim pilot the No.95 entry while Alex Lynn upholds British honour for the iconic British marque with Maxime Martin in the No.97.
AF Corse and Ferrari’s reigning GT champions James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi haven’t had the easiest start to the season in the No.51 488 GTE EVO, but home support for Calado and team mate in the No.71, Sam Bird, will raise spirits. The Ferrari team has done well at Silverstone in the past and they won’t be the only ones hoping for the hot weather to continue!
Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK’s base is just 9 miles (14 km) from Silverstone and the team has a pair of determined Brits hoping to win local pride. Harry Tincknell and Andy Priaulx from the No.67 Ford GT have had a bad start to the season in terms of results but have shown pace and performance and the results will surely come. Team mates Stefan Mücke and Olivier Pla won at Spa and are just 8 points behind the leaders so will be looking for a strong result to consolidate their position in the tables.
BMW Team MTEK continues to find its feet in the world championship and the talented line up in both BMW M8 GTEs will undoubtedly benefit from the mileage covered at Spa and Le Mans. The competition is tough, but a manufacturer with its experience and resources should not be underestimated!

Home heroes sure to entertain throughout 6 Hours of Silverstone
