The ABB NOBIUM F-E FiA's México Prix is an outstanding race due to two essential factors: It has no race car drivers in the competition, and its race track is a section of the AHR, not the acostummed streets from the city to run these electric now enhanced race cars.

"It's amazing to see the mexican fans in the stadium" Sam Bird said; It's really gonna be good to be on track this saturday." declares Robin Frijns.

Both drivers expect to start upfront after the qualifyings, at the same time they hope to leave behind a little issued that have caused problems on race. "We going to be moving forwards straight to the championship, both, as a team and drivers as well". Said Bird, who gave a tip to the fans for to feel free on the fanboost when they achieve the top 5 drivers, during the race.

As a partner team the Envision Virgin Racing Team use this season the Audi e-tron FE06 chasis. Despite this, they said manufacturers are the future of technology, which in a city as Mexico's results very important, where It can be spread the message of benefits that could bring electro movility.

Sam Bird explain the importance to use a helmet behind an electric wheelcar: "We got into racing because we like to race; you shouldn't have to lose that when you begin to progress in other aspects. Money nor fame matters. It's not an important part of being a driver".

"The relation between man and machine it could be a matter of weekend but involves the entire team" (Frijns).
About the Attack Mode the drivers of the Envision Virgin Racing Team are conscious that It is a matter of strategy, gives more power to win or lose the race which it does not make the racing boring at all, it's equal fun for the pits strategy. (Sic)

Mahindra Racing and Rockit F-E Teams Chile's Second Date from season 6 results

After a 56 day break out, the third race of the 2019/20 FIA Formula E Championship took place today in the Chilean capital of Santiago, with teams competing in the searing South American heat.
Mahindra Racing’s Pascal Wehrlein and Jérôme D’Ambrosio fought hard in tough conditions with Pascal finishing just off the podium in fourth to open his points account for the season.

After the group qualifying sessions, Pascal was 6th, advancing to Super Pole - Mahindra’s third successive appearance in Season 6 – and he set the third fastest time in the shoot-out to line up on the second row behind pole sitter Mitch Evans and Maximilian Günther alongside on the front row. The competition was as close as ever, with Pascal and fourth placed Felipe Massa setting identical Super Pole lap times.

In the race, Pascal had a fantastic start to pass Günther for second and he maintained position until lap 16, when Günther retook second while in Attack Mode. An action packed start to the second half of the race saw Günther, Evans and Wehrlein in intense battle for the podium positions until Jean Eric Vergne, Antonio Felix Da Costa and Nick De Vries entered the fray in the last 15 laps, making it a six way battle and jostle for position. After passing De Vries on the final straight of the final lap, Pascal crossed the line in fourth place, just missing out on a podium finish.

Jérôme showed his strengths once again as he had to make a comeback in the race after suffering a technical issue in qualifying, which affected his lap, forcing him to start the race from 20th. The cause of the issue will be investigated post-race. After dropping to the back at the start, he then started picking his way through the field on a salvage mission. By lap 7 he had already made up nine places to 15th and continued to move up, sitting just outside of the points in 11th by lap 37. He was unfortunately handed two time penalties and was not classified in the final results.

Rockit
Building on encouraging pace from the outset in practice, Edoardo Mortara and Felipe Massa from the Rockit team, displayed their class in qualifying.
While Edo secured a strong P7 on the grid – despite slowing to avoid a spinning Robin Frijns on his hot lap – Felipe cemented P4 in his fourth Super Pole appearance of his Formula E career.
At the race start, Edo moved forward to P5 while Felipe dropped back to P6, with both making further advances by clearing Oliver Turvey in the early stages.
Closing in on the battle between the top three, Edo toyed with a place on the podium before contact with Antonio Felix da Costa brought an early end to the Swiss-Italian’s race.
In the heat of an increasingly intense battle, Felipe kept his cool – staying firmly inside the points-paying positions as the race reached its conclusion.
Although contact with Daniel Abt knocked the Brazilian out of the top 10 in the latter stages, he would eventually take P9 in the final standings following penalties for Abt and Sebastien Buemi.

IN WORDS

Susie Wolff, Team Principal
"Santiago will go down as a race of what could have been. A number of incidents on track compounded what was a tricky race for us – but we can take many positives away from this weekend. Our pace in qualifying was strong, with Felipe securing his place in Super Pole while Edo was only a fraction shy of the top six – despite an eventful opening to his lap. Both drivers continue to provide good feedback on our Season 6 package and we’re definitely heading in the right direction. Results like this only add to our motivation and, with some work on our race pace, I’m confident we can perform well in Mexico City."

BMW’s Maximilian Günther won today’s Santiago E-Prix, with DS Techeetah’s Antonio Felix Da Costa second and Jaguar’s Mitch Evans third.

Mahindra Racing heads to Santiago, Chile, for round three of the 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E Championship which takes place on Saturday 18 January.

We’ve seen in previous years the impact high track temperatures can have on the race so the challenge this weekend will be managing both tyre and battery temperatures. We saw the new season six energy regulations come into play at the opening race and, if we have a safety car or full course yellow period this round, then the race could be another interesting one.” DILBAGH GILL

MAHINDRA Racing Team
Season Six of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship got underway this weekend with a double-header for the 2019/20 season opener in the race track of Diriyah, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. For the second season running in line, Mahindra Racing’s drivers consist of Jérôme D’Ambrosio and Pascal Wehrlein's.

Friday saw Jérôme score a Super Pole appearance in the opening race of the season, securing a third row start from sixth on the grid for the afternoon’s race, whilst Pascal lined up in thirteenth place. It was a race of mixed fortunes with both drivers making up places, but also dropping down through the field. The checkered flag eventually fell with Jérôme in P9, collecting two championship points, and Pascal finishing just out of the points in P11.

Saturday saw both drivers head out in group two for qualifying. Jérôme headed into Super Pole for the second race in a row and posted the fifth quickest time, but was later promoted to fourth on the grid after Mitch Evans received a penalty. Pascal had another challenging qualifying session and posted the fourteenth quickest time, but with Jean-Eric Vergne’s penalty he lined up thirteenth for race two.

Unfortunately, Jérôme’s race was over before it began as a technical issue meant he was unable to start the race. Pascal had a strong start to the race and was up to P9 by lap 32 +1 lap, however an incident on track a few laps later left him with damage and an unplanned front wing change. Pascal was classified P15.

Venturi Rokit Racing Team
Completing their qualifying runs, Edo Mortara secured P8 on the grid with Felipe P16 – the latter eventually promoted to P15 on the grid after a penalty for Jean-Eric Vergne. Another strong start for both drivers saw Edo advance to P7, while Felipe moved up to P13 by the end of the opening lap.
After encountering an issue when activating Attack Mode, Edo was overtaken by Maximilian Gunther and Stoffel Vandoorne. But the Swiss driver bounced back in typical fashion – staying in the fight for the final podium position throughout the race to take P5 at the chequered flag. A penalty for Maximilian Gunther left a final result of P4 for Edo adding 12 valuable points to the team championship tally.
Following his strong start, Felipe continued to advance through the field – running as high as P7 amidst a number of incidents including two Safety Car periods and one Full Course Yellow phase – before a pair of penalties halted his progress. The Brazilian would eventually claim P18 in the final classification.
Susie Wolff, Venturi's Team Principal: “This was another positive race for us. It was a shame that Edo had issues with Attack Mode activation, ultimately, these issues cost him a podium today. After a great start to the race, it was heart-breaking for Felipe with a simple mistake removing our chances of a double top-eight finish. But we have a good package so it’s an encouraging start to the season for us. We will learn from this weekend and come back stronger in Santiago.”
Felipe Massa: “We made a strong start to today’s race and had good pace, getting the right energy in the car. I was in seventh when I got a message on the radio to say that I had a penalty for being out of position on the grid. I could not believe it and my race got worse from there. Our pace at this stage of the season is very encouraging though and I look forward to racing in Santiago.”

The second round of the 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E Championship will take place on 18 January 2020 in Santiago, Chile.

Building upon its existing title partnership in Formula 1, ROKiT has entrusted Venturi Racing to expand its motorsport portfolio into the world’s premier all-electric racing series.

With a new name in ROKiT Venturi Racing, a striking new red and black livery and a new powertrain supplier in Mercedes-Benz, Season 6 signals the start of an exciting new era for the world’s only Monegasque racing team.

A NATURAL FIT
As the world’s fastest-growing form of motorsport, racing in 12 cities spanning five continents, Formula E showcases innovative, future-focused technologies – something synonymous with both Venturi and ROKiT.

Alongside pioneering smartphone solutions, ROKiT has recently launched an international venture to aid the development of smart cities across the globe through ROKiT Cities – branding for which will feature on the race cars of both Felipe Massa and Edoardo Mortara, in addition to all team kit.

Our two brands share both a passion for innovation and a clear vision for the future of our technologies. Susie Wolff, Team Principal, ROKiT Venturi Racing:

This partnership is a fantastic endorsement of the progress we made as a team in Season 5 and the ever-increasing appeal of Formula E as a platform for ground-breaking, premium global brands to showcase their vision. We’re understandably excited by what the next three years hold for both ROKiT and Venturi. Now - it’s time to go racing.”

Jonathan Kendrick, Chairman of ROK Brands and Co-Founder of ROKiT:
“After meeting with the Venturi Racing team, there was no doubt in my mind that they are the ideal partner for ROKiT in Formula E. The ROKiT brand has fast become synonymous with doing things differently - we trailblaze. Formula E is breaking new ground and we’re excited to see where the championship can go. / For every Fanboost vote received by team drivers Pascal Wehrlein and Jérôme D’Ambrosio in Season 6, Mahindra Racing will plant a tree; meaning each vote will go towards helping our planet
/ Mahindra Racing continues to set the benchmark in sustainability and remains the only Formula E team to receive FIA Sustainability Accreditation two star rating
/ Unique sand art video released to launch the initiative created by Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions finalist Kseniya Simonova

Mahindra Racing is thrilled to announce a pioneering new Fanboost initiative ahead of the 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E Championship’s season opener in Saudi Arabia this weekend. For Season 6, every vote received by the team’s drivers Pascal Wehrlein and Jérôme D’Ambrosio will convert into a tree planted; meaning fans can have a direct positive impact on the environment by voting for free when Fanboost for this weekend’s Diryah E-Prix opens.

The tree planting initiative is another measure that Mahindra Racing is taking as it continually strives to make positive changes for the environment. Mahindra Racing was the first, and remains the only, Formula E team to achieve FIA Sustainability Accreditation. The squad first successfully attained its two star rating (previously called “Progress Towards Excellence”) in November 2016 and, following a periodic audit in February this year, Mahindra Racing maintained its status in the framework, with the aim of being carbon neutral by 2020.

The team is committed to the FIA environmental certification programme by minimising its environmental impact and working towards achieving carbon neutrality. It also takes learnings from advanced technologies in its race car to apply it to its road cars within its Race to Road initiative, developing and promoting more sustainable transportation solutions.

To launch the initiative, Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions finalist and Ukraine’s Got Talent winner Kseniya Simonova has created a special sand art video showing how fans can make a difference to the environment through tree planting. Simonova has most recently been seen on screen on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions, where Amanda Holden gave her the golden buzzer in the audition rounds to see her progress straight to the final and in America’s Got Talent: Champions, where she also reached the final.

Finally, the tradition of asking fans to name its car for the upcoming season continued ahead of the start of the 2019/20 campaign. Following a public vote across the Mahindra Racing social media channels to #NameTheM6Electro, Jérôme D’Ambrosio’s #64 car will be known as The Godfather. His teammate Pascal Wehrlein will pilot the #94 car, Electro McQueen.

GEOX DRAGON announced the signing of Nico Müller, to drive the #7 Penske EV-4 in the sixth season of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.
This season will be Nico’s first competition in a single-seater series since he scored two wins in his 2013 Formula Renault 3.5 campaign. Nico has spent the past six years climbing to the top of the DTM, and currently is second in the 2019 Drivers’ Championship.
Müller got his first taste of Formula E with two seasons as a Test and Reserve Driver. During this time, he demonstrated blistering pace, leading the Rookie Test at the Circuit Moulay El Hassan in Marrakech in Season 4 by nearly a second, while simultaneously setting the circuit record. In Season 5, Nico repeated the feat.
Since coming on board, the Swiss driver has quickly integrated into the Team’s development program, working on the track and at the squad’s new Silverstone facility to continue refining the Season 6 package. Upon his joining the American Team, Nico said that “I have already met and started working with most of the Team. They are an extremely motivated group of racers. They have proven their ability to win races and challenge for podiums in Formula E. They have done it before, and we aim to do it in Season 6.”
Müller added that “we have a big challenge ahead of us. We are an independent manufacturer, and the level of competition in Formula E is the highest in Motorsport, but I have a lot of confidence in the Team. We have a compact structure, and everyone has a full grasp on the project, so together we will be able to move quickly and optimize the PENSKE AUTOSPORT package.”
On his rookie campaign, Nico commented that “I love street racing, and I am looking forward to lining up against the best guys out there. Formula E is particularly challenging, especially for a rookie, but I think we have an extremely exciting year ahead of us. We are looking forward to competing with these major OEMs, and I am pumped to be able to put pressure on the big teams right from the start in Riyadh.”
Jay Penske, Owner of GEOX DRAGON and PENSKE AUTOSPORT, welcomed Nico to the Team, saying that “I am very excited to have Nico behind the wheel of the #7 Penske EV-4 this season. Nico is a fierce competitor, and with him, we have the pieces in place to compete with the major OEM’s in this landmark Formula E season. I look forward to very solid results in the upcoming season.”

Venturi Racing will deploy Mercedes-Benz EQ technology in Season 6. This new agreement will see the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team supply the cooling system, rear frame, rear suspension, dampers, software, onboard electronics and wiring looms – as well as the new powertrain (inverter, motor, rear axle components and energy management software), which has been designed and developed by Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains.

Venturi Racing’s test and race mileage with the new package will accelerate the learning process of the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team in its debut season, capitalising on Venturi’s experience both as the first manufacturer to commit to Formula E in 2013 and as a leader in the electric mobility arena for almost two decades through the wider Venturi Automobiles family.

Mahindra Racing already confirmed Jérôme D’Ambrosio and Pascal Wehrlein remain with the team for the 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E Championship. At a special event in Germany at which the race drivers were revealed alongside the M6Electro livery for season six, Mahindra Racing were also delighted to announce a new long-term technology partnership with ZF Friedrichshafen AG.

The global technology giant is supporting Mahindra Racing’s season six campaign with chassis development work, shock absorber provision and engineering services while work is already underway for the design and manufacture of the electric driveline for the 2020/21 season. In addition to the electric motor, development includes both single-gear, highly efficient transmission and the matching power electronics. This work builds on ZF’s successful and race-winning work to date in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship through its E-Mobility division, which already employs over 9,000 people worldwide since its inception in January 2016.

In line with the new partnership, the ZF branding will adorn the M6Electro cars from this season onwards. This season’s livery is an adaptation and evolution of the popular and distinctive M5Electro. It was unveiled this evening in Germany and retains the familiar red, white and blue hues that has ensured it stands out from the crowd.

Remaining with the team for a second consecutive season, Jérôme D’Ambrosio earned the team’s first podium of the 2018/19 season at the inaugural Diriyah E-Prix; the opening round of the championship. He then took his maiden win for the team at the next event in Marrakesh and was crowned a triple Formula E race-winner in only his second race for the team.

His teammate Pascal Wehrlein impressed in season five as the rookie secured a maiden Formula E podium in only his second race and took his first pole position at the next event in Mexico City. He added six Super Pole appearances and two fastest laps to his name throughout the 2018/19 campaign.

Nick Heidfeld will remain an integral part of the Mahindra Racing family and will continue in his advisory role and as the team’s official test and reserve driver. He drove the unraced M6Electro at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the competitive Hillclimb – two years after claiming the open-wheel eRecord in the M4Electro. Belgian racer Sam Dejonghe will also continue to work closely with the team in the position of reserve and sim driver.

Mahindra Racing will test the M6Electro at the all-teams pre-season test from 15-18 October at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. The first race of the 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E Championship starts with a double-header at the Diriyah E-Prix on 22-23 November 2019.
