MILAN FASHION WEEK, MEN'S FALL/WINTER 2018/19

January 15, 2018, New York, New York and Milan, Italy
Franklin Eugene is delighted to reveal TIGER STRONG, a men’s Fall Winter 2018/2019 clothing range inspired by the tiger like strength of the indomitable human spirit.

Tigers are among the most well noted and adored of the world’s most alluring “superfauna” (large animal species with global, popular allure).  The best and invincible parts of the human spirit have been part of the collective conscious of the human experience since time immemorial.  Mr. Eugene has fused these two concepts and channeled their collective strength and massive appeal as the design inspiration for TIGER STRONG.

This fashion presentation commences with a nod to Tartan plaid, transitions to Mr. Eugene’s favorite “basic black”, segues to a myriad of Houndstooth fabric offerings, moves seamlessly to an off-white color palette, and “smashes it” at the end with faux tiger print shirts, pullovers, and a tuxedo dinner jacket. The off-white tuxedo dinner jacket that made its world debut at the 74th Venice Film Festival and the faux tiger print tuxedo dinner jacket are the pinnacles of the range.

“I was not sure I was going to put the off-white tuxedo jacket in the collection until shortly before the presentation.  The decision required that I design and style transition pieces so the collection progresses to the jacket.  I do not regret any of it.  In my opinion, the color, cut, and everything else about the jacket are simply fantastic. We took hundreds of photos of the jacket and it does not have a bad angle, stated Mr. Eugene.”

“I enjoyed adding structure to fabrics that at times traditionally don’t require any. This is particularly notable in the basic black and off-white portions of the presentation.  This collection is all about strength and literally has teeth – Houndstooth fabric to be exact.  I added in a few touches of fake fur and used sponge, fake tiger print, and Tartan plaid with goal of creating a bold, comfortable, strength imbued clothing range, noted Mr. Eugene.”

Yesterday in Rome, Italy, Campari officially unveiled the full campaign and the many stories that make up Campari Red Diaries; a holistic (r)evolution to the late Campari Calendar. Representing a step-change in the brand’s communication, Campari Red Diaries is a multi-layered campaign that brings to life the powerful ethos that “every cocktail tells a story”, celebrating cocktails as a vehicle for expression by shining a light on the influences that inspire bartenders to share their craft. Killer in Red, the pivotal piece of the project, is a brilliantly executed short film directed by the Italian internationally-renowned award winner, Paolo Sorrentino and starring Hollywood actor, Clive Owen. Whilst keeping with the tradition of the Campari Calendar of days gone by, as well as to ensure Campari Red Diaries is a true (r)evolution, the Killer in Red protagonists and the bartenders behind each of the 12 cocktail stories directed by young and emerging Italian director, Ivan Olita, have been immortalised with the creation of the Campari Red Diaries Calendar Book, shot by acclaimed Argentinian photographer, Ale Burset.

Spectacularly uplit in red for the occasion, the unveil took place during a dedicated celebration at Rome’s Palazzo delle Esposizioni - a venue which projects the theme of storytelling much like Campari Red Diaries – with guests including Paolo Sorrentino and Clive Owen. Giving nod to the ‘80s era in which Killer in Red is anchored, guests were immersed in iconography from the decade while also being treated to a Studio 54-esque DJ set from the renowned Stefano Fontana.

Audi era celebrated

Where to begin when evaluating Audi’s commitment and achievements over the last 18 seasons in endurance racing? It is an unenviable task.
True epochs are rare in motorsport but the span from 1999 to present day, with a short break in 2004/5 aside, Audi Sport has been a titan of one of racing’s toughest disciplines and it has a strike rate at La Sarthe which is unlikely to ever be beaten in the same time frame.
Audi's immense contribution to endurance racing has been celebrated in two parts on the WEC website.  You can enjoy it again, PART ONE HERE and PART TWO HERE
Mark Webber, Kyle Wilson Clarke and Timo Bernhard

Interview with Kyle Wilson-Clarke, engineer Porsche No.2

Mark Webber’s final race in his illustrious career was the 6 Hours of Bahrain, and we know now that his place in the No.2 Porsche 919 Hybrid will be taken in 2017 by New Zealander Earl Bamber.
The last round of the 2016 FIA WEC signalled an end to a career which began in the early nineties with Webber’s Australian Formula Ford debut through to the defence this season of his hard-won 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship title.
One man who is in a perfect position to reminisce about Webber’s time at Porsche is his engineer Kyle-Wilson Clarke who was part of the team who clinched the 2015 world championship titles.
