Super Season stats check!

The story so far of the WEC Super Season...in terms of statistics.
• While WEC debutant Fernando Alonso, the 2005 and 2006 F1 World Champion, has enjoyed a successful move into sports car racing there are plenty of other first time winners to celebrate this season.
• Also taking their first win in 2018 have been…
Julien Andlauer, Le Mans, LMGTE Am
Matt Campbell, Le Mans, LMGTE Am
Kevin Estre, Le Mans, LMGTE Pro
 Billy Johnson, Spa, LMGTE Pro
Laurens Vanthoor, Le Mans, LMGTE Pro
• Toyota as a marque and as a team has now surpassed Audi for the most overall victories.
• The Japanese manufacturer claimed its 18th victory at Le Mans in June. Its first win came at the 6 Hours of Interlagos in 2012 when Alex Wurz and Nicolas Lapierre took the maiden win.
• Dempsey-Proton’s Matt Campbell in GTE AM at Spa has also recorded his first (class) pole.
• The fastest lap set by Mike Conway at Spa in the Toyota TS050 HYBRID was the quickest WEC fast lap    outside of Le Mans, speed of 214.694 km/h!.

Setting sail for the Far East...

Transporting 36 racing cars and associated equipment safely around the world in a sustainable, cost-effective and timely manner is one of the biggest challenges that faces the FIA World Endurance Championship but one it meets year after year thanks to a lot of collaborative hard work!
To help control budgets, the vast majority of the cargo is sea-freighted as opposed to being transported by air. The task of deciding what should or should not be shipped is a mammoth one, and the WEC’s Logistics team works closely with the entrants and WEC partner DHL throughout the year. Many kilos of paperwork and customs carnets – the result of thousands of emails in preparation for the sea journeys – are generated, checked and double-checked.
That work is heightened this month as the freight for the overseas rounds of the Super Season leaves directly after the Silverstone round (17-19 August)

Briton Alex Lynn, who made his mark in the WEC last season with Manor, returns for more top-class competitive action and will team with Roman Rusinov and Pierre Thiriet in the No.26 G-Drive Racing ORECA 07.
As announced by Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Team UK in February, the 6 Hours of Silverstone will see three drivers in each of the Ford GTs as part of the team’s preparations for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
American Billy Johnson will be in the No.66 with Stefan Mücke and Olivier Pla, while Brazilian Pipo Derani will line up alongside Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell. Both drivers will be on the entry lists for the first three FIA WEC rounds at Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps and Le Mans.
