Porsche, which recently confirmed its participation in the FIA LMP1-H World Endurance Championship as a manufacturer up to the end of the 2018 season, and which has been actively involved in the development of the technical regulations that will come into force in 2020, has just announced the withdrawal of its LMP1 hybrids from the end of the 2017 season.  The Automobile Club de l’Ouest, promoter of the WEC and organiser of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, regrets this precipitous departure, as it does the abruptness of the decision from one of endurance racing’s most successful and lauded manufacturers.  However, the ACO and the FIA, guardians of the existence and quality of the FIA World Endurance championship, have immediately set to work to put forward to everyone involved in endurance racing the outline of the 2018 season – a season which promises to be quite exceptional thanks to the introduction of new innovations.  Clearly, the reduction of costs and stability, but also inventiveness and audacity, will be vital in making it possible to stage an increasingly spectacular and attractive championship with the sport of endurance racing at the forefront.  This unprecedented 2018 World Championship will, without doubt, excite and enthuse competitors, partners and fans of endurance racing alike.  We look forward to seeing you in Mexico on September 2 and 3 for the next WEC event when further information will be given.

Déclaration du WEC sur le départ de Porsche en LMP1 Le constructeur Porsche, qui encore récemment avait confirmé sa participation au championnat du monde d’endurance des constructeurs LMP1-H de la FIA jusqu’à la fin de la saison 2018, et avait activement participé à l’élaboration du règlement technique devant entrer en vigueur en 2020, vient d’annoncer son retrait en LMP1H et cela dès la fin de cette saison 2017.  L’Automobile Club de l’Ouest, promoteur du WEC, regrette ce départ précipité, comme la brutalité de cette décision de la part de ce constructeur couronné des plus beaux lauriers de l’Endurance.  Pour autant l’ACO et la FIA, garantes de l’existence et de la qualité du championnat, se sont mises au travail sans délai pour proposer, dans les prochaines semaines à tous les acteurs de l’Endurance, les contours de la saison 2018 qui sera par ses nouveautés tout à fait exceptionnelle.  Très clairement, la réduction des coûts, la stabilité mais également l'innovation et l'audace seront au rendez-vous pour proposer un championnat toujours plus spectaculaire et attractif ou le sport et l’endurance seront en première ligne.  Ce Championnat du Monde 2018 inédit sera à n'en pas douter, de nature à enthousiasmer l'ensemble des compétiteurs du paddock, des partenaires et des fans de l'endurance.   Nous vous donnons rendez-vous à Mexico, le 2 et 3 septembre prochain lors de la prochaine épreuve du WEC pour de plus amples informations.

Der Hersteller Porsche, der bis vor kurzem noch seine Teilnahme an der FIA Langstrecken-Weltmeisterschaft der LMP1H-Hersteller bis zum Ende der Saison 2018 bestätigt und aktiv an der Ausarbeitung des neuen, 2020 in Kraft tretenden technischen Reglements teilgenommen hatte, hat seinen Ausstieg aus der LMP1H Klasse mit Ende der Saison 2017 angekündigt.  Der Promoter der Meisterschaft, der ACO, bedauert den überstürzten Abschied sowie die Härte der Entscheidung seitens des Herstellers, der in der Langstrecke auf eine besonders erfolgreiche Geschichte zurückblicken kann.  ACO und FIA, Garanten für das Weiterbestehen und die Qualität der Meisterschaft, haben sich daher unverzüglich an die Arbeit gemacht, um in den nächsten Wochen allen Beteiligten der Langstreckenmeisterschaft die Umrisse der dank mehrerer Neuerungen ganz besonders spannenden Saison 2018 präsentieren zu können.  Im Vordergrund stehen Kostenreduktion und Stabilität aber auch Innovation und Wagemut, um eine spektakulärere und attraktivere Meisterschaft zu bieten, deren Grundlage Sport und Ausdauer bilden sollen.
