BERLIN, 31 AUGUST 2018 // Bread&&Butter by Zalando (B&&B) is back with a bang to celebrate its third edition, from today until 2 September at Arena Berlin. Here are the highlights that went down at The Pop-Up of Style and Culture on the sold out first day, opened by David Schneider (Co-CEO Zalando) and Carsten Hendrich (VP Creative Lab Zalando).

B&&B BRAND POP-UPS | adidas Originals launched its Falcon W sneaker at B&&B, in a striking new '90s colorway. Their Brand Pop-Up offers nail art, piercing and braiding – to fine tune your '90s aesthetics – so you can feel steezy from top-to-toe. At the Nike Pop-Up visitors could ‘Join the Force’ and be the first to get their hands on the Zalando exclusive Air Force 1 Jester in two hot new colorways. The deconstructed and reconstructed design was crafted by a crew of female Nike designers. Another highlight: The live performances of British poet Yrsa and German Rapper Eunique. Sweet sneakers: At the Reebok Pop-Up, guests can grab both vegan donuts and a pair of exclusive Aztreks in a hot new colorway, plus customize them to create their own perfect retro pair. House of Vans does not only offer skate workshops and a next level customization station, but also puts on fire gigs all weekend long with some of the hottest rising acts around, such as Gurr, 1000 Gram, 102 Boyz and many more. Wrangler brings all the fun with their very own retro-inspired bumper cars. Taking inspiration from their new blue and yellow 90s sports-influenced collection, the cars feature big W’s, the number 47 and the iconic Wrangler stallion.

B&&B SHOW POP-UPS | Bringing their passion for internationally sourced streetwear to B&&B, 81GB by Superconscious took over the East Side main district with three Show Pop-Ups. Each Pop-Up featured eight street style dance artists wearing their latest seasonal discoveries, especially curated for Bread&&Butter. Superconscious is the 'non-concept' streetwear store in Berlin with hard-to-find streetwear labels varying from South Korean designs to Parisian atelier craftsmanship.

B&&B TALKS | Timberland teamed up with British award-winning designer Christopher Raeburn to talk about the future of sustainable fashion, moderated by Highsnobiety’s Jan-Michael Quammie. The discussion explored how we can live with an intelligent approach to style as both creators and consumers. Especially for B&&B, State of Fashion hosted one of their meet-ups in Berlin. Each Whataboutery is based on one of the hashtags of their manifesto. In Berlin, the focus is on #FAIRNESS. During the B&&B Talk on Friday, State of Fashion’s Renee van der Hoek explored how we can create a fashion industry that speaks to all and harms few – together with fashion designer Bethany Williams.

B&&B MUSIC | The B&&B opening day saw a bunch of stellar live performances on four different stages. Berlin rapper Luciano is part of local rap crew Loco Squad Gang and made his breakthrough with the song "Jagen die Mio.". His raw lyrics have earned him respect and success both in the German charts and on B&&B’s Huawei stage.  Rising Harlem rapper Sheck Wes, who recently signed to Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music and Travis Scott's Cactus Jack Records in a joint deal, popped by at B&&B for a smashing set.

The first day of the event was brought to a high with special guest star Ms. Lauryn Hill who took over the B&&B stage for a sublime, energy-filled show. The world-famous rapper, soul singer, and former The Fugees member gave the audience goose bumps and a true 90s throwback, with songs such as “Everything is Everything“, “Ex-Factor“, “To Zion“ or “Doo-Wop (That Thing)“.

B&&B TICKETS | Tickets for Bread&&Butter by Zalando are available via breadandbutter.com/tickets. Single day tickets are 15 euro. Group day tickets are 45 euro (buy four/get one free). Single day tickets at the door are 20 euro.

  • Gregory Porter & the Dresdner Kreuzchor join up for a session in Hansa Studios

Berlin, November 8, 2017 – As part of the exclusive Dinner Night presented by Volkswagen, the US American Jazz and Soul singer Gregory Porter brings his sound to Berlin. Porter will perform excerpts of his new Blue Note album “Nat King Cole & Me” to the an  exclusive audience including many prominent guests.
Gregory Porter has been awarded two Grammys and one ECHO Jazz Award and is known as the most important talent of contemporary Jazz and Soul. He is a well-received guest at renowned festivals like “Elbjazz” Festival, Blue Note Jazz Festival and Chicago Jazz Festival and has also  performed with the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra, and at the Glastonbury Festival and even in the Royal Albert Hall in London.
He is true to the heritage of Jazz and Soul though his musical vocabulary is much more flexible, He feels at home performing Gospel and Rhythm & Blues as well as Funk. Porter crosses borders of music genres and raises a broader interest for Jazz beyond the traditional audience. His live shows are a balanced mixture of interpretations of Gospel and Soul classics, Swing and Funk pieces and Jazz improvisations. His wide oeuvre connected him with artists like the Blue Note AllStars, Jamie Cullum, Lizz Wright, Max Herre, Till Brönner, Dianne Reeves, Renée Fleming, Andreas Varady and the British Electronica duo Disclosure. In his new album, Porter highlights his personal relationship with the great Jazz musician Nat King Cole and transports classics such as “L-O-V-E", "Nature Boy" and "Smile" to the present day.

Demand is high for tickets to this exclusive performance: Among the guests from business, culture, sports and society were also the musician Robert „Kool“ Bell (from the Disco Funk band “Kool & the Gang“), Flake Lorenz (Keyboarder of the band Rammstein) and Friedrich Lichtenstein,  director Oliver Berben, actors Max von Thun and Sebastian Koch and professional Bundesliga  footballer and member of the German national football team Mario Gómez. • Audi discusses virtual reality and artificial intelligence with researchers and creative types in the Audi Berlinale Lounge
  • Jason Lusty, Head of Marketing Germany at AUDI AG: “Culture is an  important innovation driver for our society”
  • Audi Short Film Award honors outstanding artistic style

Berlin/Ingolstadt, January 31, 2017 – The 67th Berlin International Film Festival will showcase the wide diversity of cinema from February 9 to 19. New technologies like virtual reality are important innovation drivers here. As the principal partner to the Berlinale, Audi supports dialogue between the arts and industry with the Berlinale Open House event series and the European Film Market’s EFM Horizon innovation platform. In addition, fans of the cinema can enjoy discussions about current films, exceptional concerts and the best view of the curb where the stars arrive.

The Berlinale is an interface between art and technology. With increasing digitalization, the two worlds are merging together. “Culture is an important innovation driver in our society since it shows new ways of thinking and new ideas – beyond linear processes,” explains Jason Lusty, Head of Marketing Germany at AUDI AG. “In an increasingly digital world, a strong creative industry takes on special importance. It examines things critically, uses artistic intuition to create new contexts and supports the acceptance of technical innovations in society.” For this reason, the possibilities and acceptance of new technologies will be one of the topics discussed during the Berlinale as part of the Berlinale Open House program in the Audi Berlinale Lounge. Panels made up of respected experts discussed, among other things, their assessments of the future of artificial intelligence.

The European Film Market (EFM), held during the film screenings in the official program, has developed into one of the most important markets for the international film industry. As a partner to the new EFM Horizon innovation platform, Audi supports the issue of digitalization in the film industry. New technologies like virtual and augmented reality, connectivity through the Cloud and changed consumer behavior due to an ever-stronger on-demand culture are changing the film industry and automotive industry alike. The sharing of experiences drives innovation and highlights new options for collaboration.

The brand with the four rings has facilitated a lucrative prize for experimental film since 2015 with the Audi Short Film Award. This year 23 films from 19 countries are competing for gold and silver bears in the Berlinale Shorts as well as for the Audi Short Film Award, which carries EUR 20,000 in prizes. “Short film is a platform for experimentation. Within a very short time span, it provokes emotions, enables changes in perspective, breaks conventions, tests new formats and explores boundaries,” Lusty said. The jury for international short film – Christian Jankowski, Carlos Núñez and Kimberly Drew – presented the Audi Short Film Award for works produced in an outstanding artistic style and, with it, underscored the importance of the form for social discourse.

The Audi Berlinale Lounge can be accessed each day by anyone who is interested. From the balcony, the stars can be watched as they drive up to the red carpet. The discussion rounds with prominent guests and experts provide a look behind the scenes at the Berlinale. There is live music and DJ performances every night at the Berlinale Lounge Nights, starting at 8pmActs expected to perform include Robert Stadlober, Edita Malov?i? alias Madita, “Die Höchste Eisenbahn” and the “Major Minors,” among others. All schedules and details can be found atwww.berlinale.de/en/berlinaleopenhouse.

As in previous years, Audi City Berlin is the official place to purchase Berlinale tickets, and will be open daily starting February 6 from 10am to 8pmhttps://www.audi-city.com/berlin/berlinale/tickets-berlinale-2017/.

Record numbers at the Postbahnhof –
and eco-fashion more significant than ever

Substantial increase in visitors
as mainstream retailers recognise the potential of green fashion

Fashion shows wow buyers and VIPs alike

With every ticket sold at the Postbahnhof venue, substantially increased visitor numbers and a variety of enthralling innovations, Greenshowroom and the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin have now ended, after three highly three successful and action-packed days. “The duo of green trade fairs won over their audiences with the extremely high quality of the collections displayed within a newly expanded space. The high visitor numbers seen on all three days of the events prove to us that the great diversity of what we are offering is of genuine appeal. Particularly from mainstream retailers, we are registering even higher levels of interest,” says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt. With 179 international labels*, the pair of trade fairs has once again earned its place both as the main platform for ecologically and fairly produced fashion during Berlin Fashion Week and as a unique hotspot within Europe for sustainable fashion.

At Greenshowroom, a total of 40 international contemporary labels were on display. There, designers wowed audiences with their skilful mixing of styles, as glamour was excitingly combined with sporting chic. For the coming autumn/winter season, more colourful and contrasting looks are on trend. These include broad silhouettes combined with tailored fits and dusky tones set against showy colours. “We’ve enjoyed three very successful days. As well as our many existing clients, the newly added‘Active Slow’ area has made a positive impact and enabled us to hold some good conversations,” explains Florian Werner, Managing Director of Werner Schuhe. At the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin, 139 different
labels successfully showcased a wide variety of looks for the next autumn/winter season. Buyers and in an expanded space, industry players were exposed to a broad spectrum of sophisticated fashion.

“We’ve been involved right from the very start and love exhibiting at the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin,” Bert van Son, Managing Director of Mud Jeans explains enthusiastically. “We are really happy about the growth in the two events and are pleased to have taken part in the new Sportswear International area in the club. Both German and international retailers have placed orders with us and were excited by our concept.”

Retailers confirm increasing demand for eco-fashion
The trend is continuing – more and more mainstream retailers are visiting Berlin as they plan to give a platform to eco-fashion. “It’s our first time here and we’ve placed orders right away. In doing this, we’re responding to the ever-increasing demand for green fashion from our customers and are expanding our range with attractive new lines,” reports Axel Haubrok of the Susanne Kissel fashion house in Speyer, south-west Germany. There was also an appreciable rise in the number of international visitors to the shows.

A high energy display opportunity for designers
At the “Salonshow”, selected Greenshowroom designers were able to showcase some of the most exciting trends in contemporary fashion for A/W 2017/18. For the first time ever, Messe Frankfurt arranged for the catwalk show to take place in Berlin’s Energieforum, a dynamic setting for the highlights of the new collections. The show included pieces from a highly varied selection of current labels, including outfits by Austriandesign.at, Biaggi, Blue Valley, Inti Ferreira, Johanna Riplinger, Lanius, LaniusXKunert, Royal Blush, Studio Elsien Gringhuis, Studio Jux and Xess+Baba. “The Salonshow was a complete success,” says Katharina Ley, Head of PR at Lanius. “It gave us a great opportunity to present our partnership with Kunert on the runway. We had goose bumps when we saw the front row nicely full of top journalists and celebrities like Eva Padberg, and the bright eyes of the sell-out audience.” Musical accompaniment was provided by Mischa Blanos.

During the “Ethical Fashion on Stage” catwalk show, international casual designers showcased a broad selection from their A/W collections. The show included new items from the following labels that were exhibiting at the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin: B Frog, C. Pauli, Chapati, Colombo3, Elementum, Greenbomb, Jaspe, Komodo, Myssyfarmi, Naturaline, Organication, Shirts for life and Tranquillo. To finish the show, lavera Naturkosmetik presented the collection of the winner of the January 2016 lavera Green Fashion Award: Paul Iby & Johanna Winklhofer. The soundtrack was supplied by Delfonic.

“Prepeek” – opening new routes of communication
With PrePeek, the organisers of the trade fair duo for the first time arranged a blogger and influencer initiative – in cooperation with Hamburg-based fashion website Kleiderei.com and with support from Weleda. Thanks to the many bloggers and influencers who took part, the event, which received great feedback, was a resounding success. Those taking part chose items from the collections of the participating labels and included them in photo shoots to present to their online communities. In this way, new routes of communication were opened, via the bloggers and influencers, to consumer audiences.

The next editions of Greenshowroom and the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin will be held from 4 to 6 July 2017.

An expert jury will choose their favourite photo from all the posted photos. There is also a prize for the photo that attracts the most likes on the Internet. The two winners will each receive an edition of the book
"Fashion Made Fair" and a voucher from Kleiderei. Key topic "ActiveSlow"
Progressive design and performance in combination with resource efficiency and recyclability are the key themes
for the winter season. In a showcase entitled "Active Wear +", Manufactum and ESMOD Berlin International University of Art for Fashion will present prototypical functional clothing.
