In this region too, Piaget is known to continually lend its support to the regional talents from various industries in a bid to amplify exposure.
Abdulla Al Kaabi’s film has an exciting storyline revolving around a conversation between a young Arab couple, in anticipation of their wedding, and the way in which the choice of jewelry helped in expressing the different facets of love. Piaget was one of the few brands who came to the region in the 60’s and established a very close relationship with the community offering it unique and timeless pieces. Abdulla approached Piaget with the aim to showcase memories of his childhood where the brand was present in the festive occasions.
Commenting on his film, Abdulla said, “I am grateful to Piaget for supporting my film and for the encouragement and endorsement that they give independent filmmakers like myself. Films are the highest form of art in my opinion, classic and eternal. Since it has been a while since I was on a cinema set, I was happy to be back working with my favourite people, doing what we love the most. More Than Love is a sensual film where I explore honesty in its purest form, and highlight the different facets of love.”
Chabi Nouri, the CEO of Piaget, further added, “Piaget is thrilled to celebrate great filmmakers around the globe by endorsing the Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards in Taiwan and the Film Independent Spirit Awards in LA. Supporting young talents is a pride for the Maison, especially as Abdullah is one of the promising talents in the region.”
Born and raised in Fujairah, Abdulla Al Kaabi has worked as a TV presenter for Dubai TV while simultaneously modeling and acting for print and television commercials respectively. Knowing that he always wanted to be in the Director's seat, he moved to Paris in 2009 to pursue a Master's Degree in Filmmaking and a career in cinema where he directed his first award-winning short film, The Philosopher with Jean Reno. In 2016 Abdulla won the best Emirati featured film in DIFF 2016 with his Film only men go to the grave.
