Apple announced updates to its core portable and media devices in front of a standing-room-only crowd at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, in San Francisco. CEO Tim Cook, accompanied by a bevy of colleagues from Apple and Apple-partnered companies, introduced and demonstrated the next generation of products from the Cupertino giant, giving viewers a glimpse into the not-so-distant future of tech.

iPad Pro

Perhaps the biggest news of the day was the unveiling of the oft-rumored iPad Pro. The tablet has an expansive 12.9" retina display, making it considerably larger than its non-Pro siblings. Its expansive size gives it enough room to run two apps side by side, made possible by iOS 9 and the powerful A9x processor. Four speakers, one at each corner, enhance the cinematic experience of its large display. Accessories for the iPad Pro were also demonstrated, including a keyboard cover called Smart Keyboard and Pencil, a stylus brimming with features for professional artists and amateurs alike. To read more about the iPad Pro, click here.

iPhone

While the names of the new iPhones didn’t catch anyone by surprise, their new touchscreen capabilities did: the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will ship with 3D Touch, which adds new levels of interaction to your device, depending on how hard you press the screen. You’ll be able to access shortcut menus, preview emails, and even engage with new controls on your favorite games by pressing the screen harder or softer.

The iPhone has also received a 12MP camera, which can record video in 4K and take 64MP panoramas. The front camera has also been bumped up to 5MP, and it flashes the display in low light to act as a flash for your selfies. A new Touch ID sensor and A9 chip with an M9 motion co-processor make the new iPhone even faster.

Apple TV

The new Apple TV offers a completely redesigned experience, with more media providers than ever before. It also gained its very own App Store that gives users access to apps and games that previously were confined to computers and mobile devices. A new remote completes the experience with a touchpad and accelerometer that enable it to be used as a game controller, along with other connected iOS devices. And with Siri integration, you’ll be able to use your voice to search for movies and TV shows by title, genre, release date, age ratings, and even individual actors. To read more about the new Apple TV, click here.

Watch

Apple Watch is receiving a software update that will bring even tighter integration with the iPhone: third-party complications display more information than ever before, including maps, news, weather, and even health-monitoring apps. New bands from Apple and Hermès, a new rose gold finish, and new faces give even more opportunities to customize your Watch to your tastes.
