DOLPHINARIS: A WORLDWIDE WELFARE REFERENCE, ACCORDING TO THE EUROPEAN ASSOCIATION FOR AQUATIC MAMMALS

Cancun, Quintana Roo, March 16th, 2023
.- Dolphinaris Cancun was recognized by the European Association for Aquatic Mammals (EAAM) thanks to the welfare of the species in their care and its focus on education, conservation, and research of marine mammals. This was during the association's annual symposium  from March 7th to 10th in Valencia, Spain.

The EAAM is an association that was founded in 1972 and is integrated by veterinarians, biologists, directors of zoos, trainers, zookeepers, researchers, students, and people dedicated to the conservation of marine mammals through research, medical care, education, and other related activities.

For more than 50 years, EAAM has held an annual symposium to share information on the results of scientific studies, breakthroughs in specimen handling, and veterinary care, among other developments relevant to marine mammal professionals from around the world. This year's theme was 'Marine Mammals in need, let people know we are part of the solution'.

"We are very proud that the EAAM has assessed our facilities, the care and animal welfare of our specimens, the application of preventive medicine, our conservation programs, environmental education, and research, to determine that we comply with the highest and most demanding standards in our industry. We will continue to do our best for our mammals so that our visitors live an unforgettable experience", commented: Yanik Iñiguez, Manager of Dolphinaris Cancun.

Dolphinaris Cancun is the only institution accredited by the EAAM outside the European continent, achieving the highest and most demanding standards in the industry. In 2016, Dolphinaris Cancun received for the first time this accreditation, which gives it a seal of quality and places the company among the world's elite in dolphin welfare, education, conservation, and research.

In addition to this accreditation, Dolphinaris Cancun is certified by the American Humane Association and is a member of the Mexican Association of Habitats for the Interaction and Protection of Marine Mammals (AMHMAR), which guarantees the safety and protection of the animals in their care.
